Abstract: This study entitled‘Teachers’ Perceptions on Using Audio-materials in Teaching Listening at Basic Level’ attempted to identify basic level teachers’ perceptions on using audio-materials in teaching listening skills and the problem faced by EFL teachers in teaching listening.In this research, all the English teachers of basic level were population for this study. Among them fifty respondents from twenty five different private schools of Kathmandu valley were sampled. I used random sampling procedure to select the sample. A setof questionnaires consisting of both close-ended and open-ended questions was used as a data collection tool. The data were analyzed and interpreted using simple statistical tools such as percentage and tables.After completing my research, it has been found that audio-materials see minter active teaching aids.Most of the teachers were using audio materials while teaching listening at basic level.It develops students’ pronunciation, communication,confidence and habit of listening. Students seem happy, energetic, and eager to have listening class at basic level. This thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter deals with background ofthe study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions,significance of the study, delimitation of the study and operational definitions of key terms. The second chapter comprises review of the related theoretical and empirical studies,implications of the studies and conceptual framework. Likewise, third chapter consists design of the study and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategies, research tools, sources of data, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure, data analysis and interpretation procedures and ethical consideration. The fourth chapter includes analysis of data and interpretation of results. Similarly, the fifth chapter focuses findings, conclusions and recommendations based on analysis and interpretation of the study. The references and appendices have been included in the last part of the thesis.
