Abstract: The entitled Impact of the Infrastructure Development on society: A Case Study ofMachhegaun VDC, Ward no 13 is prepared with the objective to analyze the socio-economicimpact of infrastructure development on the society and to examine the problemand prospect ofinfrastructure development in the study area. The required information wascollected from fieldvisit conducted in Machhegaun VDC, Ward no 13.Household survey, Key informant interview,observation are themajor techniques used for the field survey. Secondarydata and informationare collected from the Machhegaun VDC, Ward no 13 and other sources were also used.Descriptive statistic is applied for theanalysis of the data. Altogether 43 households of the ward13were taken for the sample.The total population of the selected sample household is 219 with121 male and98 female. Machhegaun VDC accommodates the resident of many cast/ethnic groups .Among thisgroups Bramans and Chetri are occupy most of the occupation such as public service andbusiness activities. The other cast /ethinic groups such as Newar, Magar,,Tamang ,Dalit areinvolve with the agricultural,Business, laboures Work ,Poltry Framing, Carpentry and SocialServices.The Society of this VDC is made up of homogeneous caste groups. The major occupation of the people is Agricultur and business, social service and most ofthe populations are involve with student life. The literacy rate of this ward is very limited .Occupation is one of the important indicators to show the social and economic status of thepeople. It also determined household wealth, well being and social prestige in the society andplays the vital role for infrastructure development on society. But, in the study area, the majoroccupation of the peopleagricultur and business, social service and most of the populations areinvolve with student life. All the households have reported that infrastructural development is essential forthe overall societal development first essential infrastructure in the study area is transportation,whereas they considered drinking waterand electricity respectively in the second and third mostpriority infrastructure they need.The study area has been facing different infrastructural problemsuch as transportation , soil erosion ,land slides , investment in non production sectors andconflict of local people are some of the major problem in the study area.
