Abstract: This study entitled "Status of Females Involved in Teaching Profession inPrivate Colleges in Chabahil Area of Kathmandu District" has beenconducted.This research especially deals to find out the condition of females teachersteaching private colleges in Chabahil area of Kathmandu district. Theobjectives of this study were to study the job status of respondents and theirfeelings on their job, to analyzes the participation regarding decision makingprocess and to study the personal growth and motivation of female teachers.Fifty respondents were selected from ten private colleges of Chabahil area byusing purposive sampling method. Descriptive and exploratory research designwas applied for this study to understand the statusof working women. To fulfillthe main objective close-ended and openended questions were used. By this study it is concluded that in overall status of women employees in theprivate college is satisfactory for them and their family too.In the study area,majority of the female teachers teaching Private College were gained more than5 years.Twelvepercent insisted there is discrimination on salary between maleand female where as 22 percent were not to be paid their salary in time.Thirtysix percent respondents were involved in other income related jobs exceptteaching only one college. Thrity two respondents have income between15001-20000, 28% has between 10001-15000 income, whereas 24%respondents have above 20000 income.24% were felt that their salary isinsufficient for their job college paids where as 8 percent were preferred theirsalary is sufficient for their work. Sixty four percent were preferred theirfeeling about teaching as an underemployed sistuation.Among the respondents92 percent were felt their job as normal status and 8 percent were felt highstatus in their sorroundings. Ten percent were satisfied, 56 percent werepartially satisfied and 34 percent were dissatisfied. The respondents who werepartially and completely dissatisfied, among them 15 respondents due to lowsalary, 2 respondents due to poor working enviornment, 15 respondents due torare chances for beterment, 1 resondent due to boring job, 5 respondents due tohardship and 7 respondents due to no respect in the society.Only 7respondentswere not changing their job. The respondents who were changing their jobintended to join public campus by 44 percent, 20 percent in civil service, 10 percent in foreign service, 2 percent other private office, 20 percent ownbusiness and 4 percent others sectors.Majority of the respondents' expectationwas to increment in their salary.Fourpercent were not fully involved in schooldecision making process where as 32 percent were partially involved. Of the respondents majority i.e. 96 percentwere took part in making teachingroutine where minority in extracurricular activities by 14 percent, annualoperation calendar by 10 percent and teachers participation in meeting ofmanagement committee by 10 percent.Majority of the respondents were spenttheir income on use of family welfare. The women were involved mainly inbuying and selling process by 24 percent and 22 percent teaching respondentswere involved in their all household chores.The respondents were strongly puttheir view points on love cum arrange marriage.The respondents were selectedteaching profesion by 28 percent to decrease economic dependency and 26percent by utilization of education, 24 percent implied for supportingfamily.Females who were teaching profession were able to make adjustment by74 percent and 26 percent were unable to maintain their household problemsand they were minimize this problem by helping other family members by92.31 percent and one respondent was employed helper. Thrity six percent were tole that there is discrimination in household tasks(36%) and use of family property by 22 percent.Majority of the respondents 94said that their recognition is increased after their involvement in teachingprofession. Fortypercent were involved in social organization.Respondentswere personal development chance i.e. training by 41 percent, 11 percent byworkshop, 12 higher studies and 10 by seminar.88%were praised on theirgood work. Forty sixpercent were promoted in their job period where as equal person werefacing problem on their job too.In terms of personal development, 40respondents were involved in social organization which empowers and boostup their level of consciousness which makes them internally strong anddetermined.Most of the respondents were agreedthat teaching profession helpsto increase personal growth and motivation. Teaching job has taught them tounderstand the importance of education and learning.
