Abstract: This thesis has been prepared to find out errors in the use of conjunctions of the students studying in Grade ten in public schools of Surkhet district. Sixpublicschoolslocated at different parts of Surkhet district were randomly selected for the study. The sample population of the study consisted of one hundred and twenty students.Twenty students were taken from each of the selected schools and there were equal number of boys and girls, i.e., tenboysandtengirls.The findings of the study showed the average frequency of errors of the students was worse in the use of conjunctions. They committed errors,(i.e.,seventy-one percent of marks)on average. Among six sample schools, the students of Saraswati Higher Secondary School committed the highest number of errors whereas the students of Shiva Higher Secondary School committed the lowest one. On the other hand,boys committed more errors than the girls. The average errors of the boys was 52.56 percent whereas of the girls was 47.44 percent. This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter presents general background, importance of grammar, ELT in Nepal, the conjunctions, errors analysis,review of the related literature,objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology applied to this research work along with primary source, secondary source, sample population, tools,and process of data collection and limitations of the study.The third chapter is related to analysis and interpretation of data. The results obtained in the study have been tested systematically using simple statistical tools of percentage, average, bar graph and pie-chart to make the analysis clear. The analysis has been carried out in comparative form and under the different headings-School wise,gender wise,item wise etc.The final chapter presents the findings and some recommendations on the basis of the analysis and interpretation of data. It includes reference and appendices as well.
