Abstract: The present study entitled “Teachers’ Characteristics Associated with the English Language Classroom Management” was an attempt to identify the teachers characteristics associated with the English language classroom management in terms of caring, firmness and democratic qualities. The main objective of this study was to identify teachers’ characteristics associated with effective classroom management in ELT classroom in terms of caring,firmness, and democratic qualities.To fulfill the objectives,Classroom observation, questionnaire, and group interview were used as tools for data collection. It was a mixed study, based on the multi method approach descriptive and narrative analysis of the data. The data were collected from the secondary schools of Lamjung district. The required data were collected by using questionnaire for the teachers, observation checklist for the classroom observation and group interview for the students. The total samples were five teachers and twenty students from five schools.The findings of this research revealed that the democratic characteristic was shown to a greater extent although all kinds of other characteristics were shown by teachers. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the general background, statement of the problem, rationale of the study, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, limitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms.The second chapter contains theoretical and empirical review of literature, implication of the review for the study,and conceptual framework. Similarly, The third chapter deals with the methods and procedures of the study which includes the design of the study,population and sample, sampling procedure, data collection tools and data collection procedures.The fourth chapter consists of the result and discussion of the collected data. The fifth chapter deals with the summary, conclusion and some pedagogical implications based on the analysis and interpretation of the data. References and appendices are attached at the end.
