Abstract: This study on “Language Deviation on Facebook: A Case of Graphology” wasan attempt to find the deviation regarding graphology, deviation of language used on computer mediated communication, i.e. facebook. This study is mainly based on the primary sources of data. The sample no. of the study was 20 facebook users from two different age groups, i.e. fifteen to twenty five years and twenty five years above. Total chat exchanges were selected on the basis of various types of deviations seen in the chat. All the facebook users were literate and could communicate in English. Only the five exchanges of each chats(twenty) were analyzed. Even the good users of English were found to be using the peculiar forms of language. Moreover, the age variation was also not found remarkable in terms of the language used on facebook chat. Disregarding the capitals, using short forms, reduplication of the punctuation marks, alphanumerical representation of the words, et cetera. were the commondeviations that almost all the facebook users used in generalization of the findings of the study. Though the different types and styles of writing were asfar as included, the result is surprisingly similar in the degree of using the deviant forms. With the development of Computer Mediated Communication, people are entertaining a new trend of writing disregarding the general convention of the rules of grammar and graphology. It is concluded that disregarding the academic background and age variations of the facebook users, all tend to use language in economic way. This thesis has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter is about the general background of Computer Mediated Communication, objectives of the study, significance of the study and delimitations of the study. Similarly, chapter two is about the review of the related literature. Chapter three presents methodology where research design, sample size, sampling procedure, sampling tools and data collection procedure were incorporated. Chapter four depicts the analysis and interpretation of the collected data. Finally, the chapter five points out the findings of the study and recommends for the pedagogical implication.
