The Circumstances of Vocational Training: A Case Study of F-SKILL Training Graduates of Chitwan District

Abstract

F-SKILL Employment & Training Pvt Ltd (here after referred as F-SKILL) is originally, a Swiss Development and Cooperation (SDC) project initiated in the year 2002. Now, it is a Nepalese Pvt.Company implementing employment and training programmes supported by different donors like SDC, Helvetas Swiss Inter cooperation Nepal, US-AID, UN Habitat, DFID etc. whose training target group is out of school young girls and boys of age 16 to 35 years and who are socially discriminated,economically disadvantaged and have low educational attainment (below SLC),occupational caste groups, landless, internally displaced, dalits, indigenous etc. The program aims at imparting occupational skill training, life skill training, and business skill/enterprising skill training to the seminority groups and assists them to enter into gainful employment. The present research is carried out to study about the overall impact of F-SKILL training programmes. F-SKILL is successful to grant skill to 397 disadvantaged youths in Chitwan District through its trainings programmes (December, 2005 to December, 2010).The research was conducted from November, 2010 to June, 2010. Out of 397 graduates 100 graduates were taken as a respondent to study about Trainees’ Views on F-SKILL training programmes, where as 14 Local Partner Organizations (hereafter referred as LPOs) and PFs were also met and interviewed to study about PFs/LPOs’ views regarding F-SKILL training programmes. Most importantly, 23 local customers of F-SKILL graduates were also interviewed to know the clear vision about F-SKILL graduates’ work performance and services. Other informal talks to local people, trainers and trainees’ family member were also done to make the research more authentic, reliable and relevant.Some of Recommendations and Suggestions were collected from trainee graduates,LPOs/PFs and Local Clients, trainers during research period. I am therefore, hopeful;F-SKILL will not underestimate these recommendations and suggestions in the future days.
