Title: Free Writing Ability of Grade Eight Students

Abstract: The thesis entitled "Free Writing Ability of Grade Eight Students" was carried out to find out the free writing ability of grade VIII students especially in the case of essay writing. The researcher used both primary and secondary sources of data.The sample of the study consisted of 18 students of grade 8. They were selected purposively. Questionnaire was used as the tool for data collection. After completing the analysis of collected data, I found that the writing ability of thegrade 8 students in first and second ability test was not satisfied.But in the third ability test students’ proficiency was satisfactory. In the second ability test, it was found that, students who got above average marks was increased by 11.11% than first ability test. In the third test,percentage of students who got above average marks was increased by 22.22% than second ability test. Similarly,while comparing the first and third ability test it was found that students who got above average marks was increased by 33.33% than first ability test. The research is divided into five different chapters. The first chapter, 'Introduction' includes the background, statement of the problem, objectives, research questions,significance, and delimitation of the study. In the second chapter, I have tried to reflect the store house of the knowledge related to the present study by reviewing theoretical literature and empirical literature. On the basis of which conceptual framework was developed.The third chapter deals with the methodology used to conduct the study. It gives information about the design of the study, populationand sample, sampling procedure, data collection tools, data collection procedure,data analysis and interpretation procedure. Collected data have been presented,analyzed and interpreted in the fourth chapter. It deals with the learners’ Free Writing Ability. The fifth chapter summarizes and concludes the whole study in the first three sections. Besides, some of the implications of the study in policy level, practice level and references and appendices have been presented to make the study authentic, reliable and valid in this chapter.
