Abstract: This present thesis entitled ‘Induction for Occupational Socialization: Perspectives of Novice EFL Teachers’ aimed to find out the problems of novice EFL teachers in socialising themselves in the school culture and to find out their perspectives towards the need for induction programme. Keeping the objectives in consideration, thirty novice EFL teachers, who were selected through Teacher Service Commission examination, were selected as respondents through non-random purposive sampling procedure. The main tool for data collection was questionnaire. The collected data from the respondents were analysed and interpreted descriptively with the help of simple statistical tools such as frequency tabulation and percentile. The major findings of this study are that induction hasthe great role for occupational socialization of novice EFL teachers. The novice teachers were found facing different problems due to the lack of teacher inductionin their first year of teaching. The thesis has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study,research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. Similarly, the second chapter consists of the review of the related theoretical literature, review of related empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework forthe study. The third chapter deals with the methodology and procedures of the study under which design and method of the study, population, sample and sampling procedure, study area/field, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedures and data analysis and interpretation procedure have beenincluded. The fourth chapter focuses on the analysis and interpretation of the results under which analysis of the data and summary of the findings have been included. And the fifth chapter of the study consists of conclusions and recommendations of the study under which implications of the study for policyrelated level, practice related level and further research related level have beenincluded.
