Abstract: This presents study entitled ‘English Language Teachers’ Beliefs on the Use of Electronic Media for Professional Development’ aimed to find out the beliefs of ELT teachers regarding the use of electronic media for their professional development. It also investigates the reason how the English language teachers are benefitted by the use of Electronic media. Higher Secondary English language teachers of Kathmandu and Lalitpur who were involved in teaching profession more than five years were selected purposively as a sample. This study used interview as a tool for primary data collection and some related document were received from secondary data. Six English language teachers, three from government sector and three from private sector were interviewed to get the required information. After the collection of data, they were transcribed, coded thematically and analyzed descriptively. The findings of this study showed that English language teachers have got positive beliefs and attitude regarding the use of electronic media. Similarly, English language teacher believed, they have been benefitted by the use of electronic media and after the implementation of electronic media they have found their professions ease as well as comfortable. Likewise, they believed that electronic media had helped them in their personal as well as professional development. This research study consists of five chapters. The first chapter, introduction part of this study consists of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. In the second chapter related literature and reviewed thematically as well as conceptual framework. Third chapter discusses about the methods and procedures of the study. It consist of design of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, research tools , sources of data collection procedures, data analysis procedures and ethical considerations. Fourth chapter incorporates the analyzed and interpretations of the data where fifth chapter showed findings, conclusions, and recommendations related to policy, practice and further research. References and appendices are included at the last part of this thesis.
