Abstract: National Development of any country can be described as positive changes in economics, social political and physical sectors which can be achieved by quality education. Nepal has long history on traditional Hindu Buddhist religious education specially designed to religious purpose. To match the world developing pace traditional methods of teaching have to be changed for quality education as well as to make the student able to compete worldwide. International standard courses, modern laboratory and library, complete physical infrastructures, capable and motivated teachers are some of the pillars of effective education system. Nepali education system is still based on traditional system. Most of the community based government schools are lacking modern teaching aids. Lack of modern lab, buildings, reading materials, accommodation facilities and efficient and motivated teachers are few sectors which need early attention of the government. Despite significant investment of the government (around 14% of its annual budget) to the education sector, our products in education sector are not found competitive in today’s environment. Our community based schools are the back bones of our education sector as around 80 percent of our students are studying in government schools. Ministry of education had conducted school sector reform program (2007-2016) which was ended with limited success. Now the government has launched school sector development plan, which is undergoing Due to proper delegation of resources and authority, corruption in financial dealings, lack of proper monitoring system, political influences in various sectors the sector, lack of proper refresher /training to the teachers our government schools are lacking behind. Moreover, lack of physical infrastructure including modern teaching aids, lack of confidence in teachers, lack of education specialist in school management committee, poverty and commitments of the students other than study are still existing in our society. Above mentioned circumstances clearly indicate that we have to improve our quality of our education system for competitive education which can be achieved by only dedicated teachers, students and parents with the help of government. As such, effective environment to deal with the above facts should be created.
