Abstract: The thesis entitled ' An Analysis of Symphony for Grade five’ is an attempt to analyze the physical, academic and other aspects of the textbook. In order to do so, the researcher selected 10 schools from six VDCs of Morang district. From these schools, 10 teachers and 80 students (8 from each) were selected and different sets of questionnaires were distributed to them. From them data were collected and analyzed using simple statistical tools like percentage. Similarly, the researcher himself observed the classes of those teachers four times each using an observation form and data from observation were also analyzed by percentage. From the analysis the following crucial findings were drawn. The researcher found that the subject matter is interesting and understandable to the students. The exercises encourage the students to learn more. The pictures given in the textbook help the learners to make the study long lasting.’ Word Power' section of the book is very helpful to learn the new and difficult words. The textbook is easy for handling and carrying. Printing is free from error. Subject matter does not talk about Nepalese culture, human rights and technological world. Exercises are not sufficient for practice. The grammatical rules and practices are not sufficient .The textbook can not be found easily in time. The study has four chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction. It consists of general background, types of textbook, importance and qualities of textbook, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter introduces the methodology adopted for the study. It encompasses sources of data, sampling procedure, tools and process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three consists of analysis and interpretation of the data obtained which has been done in terms of analysis and interpretation of academic aspects that includes content, exercise, illustration and language, physical aspects which include size, printing and paper quality, and other aspects like price and availability of the textbook. It also consists of the comparison of the common agreements and disagreements among the teachers and students about the aforementioned aspects of the textbook. The fourth chapter presents the findings and recommendations which are summed up from the analysis and interpretation of the data collected for the purpose of the study.
