Abstract: This research tries to analyze the historico-cultural trauma in the memoir, Love in a Torn land by Jean Sasson. It basically shows the victimization of different characters in the historical events like Iraqi War and Kurdish war deals with genocide. It presents how the protagonist and other characters, events and what they do to revisit traumatic past in their life. In Love in a Torn Land people who witness all those events, are traumatized and other characters like Sarbast and Joanna are traumatized due to Iraqi war and many other innocent girls become the victim of sexual abuse. Likewise, each of the individual dream is shattered and they are forced to live the traumatic life. In this regard, the novel highlights the incomprehensible nature of war and other events that occurred in Kurdis society during the period from 1986 to 1998. The depiction of horrifying and situation faced by character highlights the traumatic incidents in the novel. Likewise, this researcher encompasses the idea of acting out and working through of trauma relating to life of different characters who dies and others who tries to gain the critical distance to reduce the burden of trauma
