Abstract: This study is entitled English Language Teachers' Efforts for Professional Development. The main objectives of this research study were to explore the efforts done by the English teachers for their professional development, to analyze the role of internet based resources and teachers’ training for teachers’ professional development, and to suggest some pedagogical implications. Survey was the research design of the study. Only forty secondary level English teachers teaching in the community schools of Dhading district were selected as the sample of the study. The teacher respondents were chosen through purposive sampling procedure. To fulfill the objective, collected data were analyzed descriptively and thematically. It was found that efforts adopted by teachers are self monitoring, self review, use of internet, attending conference and seminar. The teachers viewed that the efforts they adopted in their teaching help them to enhance the professional career and make teaching learning activities more effective. Moreover, it showed that internet based resources help for developing professional skill. The study found that, most of the teachers used internet based resources suchs YouTube, Blog, Google, etc. for their professional development. It was also found that teachers attended seminar, conferences, workshop for their professional development. This thesis is divided into five different chapters. The first chapter introduces of the study. It consists of the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. Likewise, the second chapter deals with the review of theoretical as well as empirical literature. The third chapter deals with the methods and procedure of the study. It consists of research design of the study, population and sample, sampling procedure, tools of data collection and process of data collection. Similarly, the fourth chapter displays analysis and interpretation of results. Moreover, the last chapter involves finding, conclusion and implications at various levels i.e. policy level, practice level and further research. The references and appendices are mentioned at the end.
