Abstract: The title of the study was ‘Expressing Anger and Scolding: In English and Nepali’. This study aimed to identify and compare the exponents of expressing anger and scolding used by the native English and Nepali speakers. For this study, the researcher took 20 native English speakers from British Council, Nepal and International Organization for Migration, Damak and 60 Nepali speakers were taken from the Department of Nepali Language Education, T.U., Kirtipur, Birendra Sainik Maha Vidhyalaya, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur and D.A.V. Boarding School, Lalitpur. The study was entirely based on the primary data; i.e. the responses from the native English and Nepali speakers collected through the questionnaire distributed to them. The responses given by them were recorded for analysis and interpretation. On the basis of analysis and interpretation, the researcher came to the conclusion that the native English speakers were more polite than their Nepali counterparts while scolding and expressing anger whereas Nepali speakers used more informal forms and swear words than the native English speakers while expressing the undertaken exponents. The study is divided into four chapters. Chapter one is an introductory chapter. It includes general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, and significance of the study. Chapter two deals with the methodology applied to carry out the research under which sources of data, sampling procedure tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study have been presented. Chapter three presents analysis and interpretation of the data. In this section both statistical as well as descriptive approach has been used. Chapter four incorporates findings and recommendations of the research. The references and appendices form the concluding part of the thesis.
