Abstract: The present research work basically focuses on Bharati Mukherjee`sfirst novelThe Tiger’sDaughter.It studies the protagonist’s ceaseless efforts tofind her true self. During the course of the novel,Tara undergoes a series of changes that creates a different identity in her encounterwith the people that come one after another in her life. She remains in a state offlux andlongs for stable identitythatcan provide meaning and position in her new diasporic world.Her constant movement in the alien and native land clearly shows her continuous efforts to stand different in the crowd with a definite identity.
