Abstract: | The main focus of thisresearch workison the representation of multicultural Americans' lives. The people, who are underrepresented, confront their cultural origins. These people present themselves in America where they are treated as foreign in American mainstream.Chinese-American identity inthe novel,The Joy Luck Club,is problematized between the unequal relationships between different generations ofChinesediaspora in America whohave espoused marginality and pluralityin cultural heritage. Amy Tan, like other AsianAmericanwriters, advocates the cultural politics which espousesethnic and racial identitywhichdisrupts the marginalization and establishes hyphenated identity. |
