Abstract: The present research focuses to the treatment of female characters in Bisweshwar Prasad Koirala's novel,Sumnima. It will study the female characters who are from two different and distinct culture and backgrounds. Sumnima is from Kiranti culture andher action, behavior and lifestyle all represents theKiranti culture. Puloma is from Aryan culture and acts accordingly. The present work has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter gives the introduction of the work. The second chapter makes the theoretical study of feminism. The third chapter analyzes the text and the fourth chapter is the conclusion of the work.
