Poor listening comprehension was the problem that was faced while teaching English language in the classroom. For the accomplishment of the research work, I selected one of my classes,Grade nine at Akhanda Vidya Sadan, Kalanki, Kathmandu. On planning stage, I administered a pre-test to get the students’ initial proficiency level on listening.During the forty-five days of my teaching, students were taught using recorded materials as an action for change. I administered progress-tests as well. In addition, to observe the role of recorded materials in developing listening skill of my students,post-test was conducted and compared with the results of pre-test. The purpose of taking pre-test and post-test was to observe the role of recorded materials for developing listening skill. The students’ answer sheets were analyzed to see the improvement in their listening.By comparing the answer sheets of pre-test and post-test, it was found that listening skill of the students was improved in post-test. The average score in pre-test was 6.15 (41%), in the first progress-test the average score was 8.2 (54.66%). Similarly, in the second progress-test 9.7 (64.66%) was the average score and in the post-test the average score was 11.7 (78%).
