Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the problems faced by Mathematics
Teacher in teaching mathematics at secondary level and also to find the causes of the
problems which are faced by mathematics teacher in teaching mathematics at
secondary level of Palpa district. The descriptive survey research design was adopted
to conduct the study. Using this method more items can be asked and more flexible
but factual information was gathered. The nature of this study was qualitative (quasi-
model).To achieve objectives, the researcher maintained some literatures that were
related to the study. The related previous study of research,reports and journals were
taken as a guide to the study. The international studies were also reviewed for the
strength of the study. The researcher prepared tools; questionnaire, class observation
formand interview schedule. Fifteen secondary schools of Palpa district were selected
and tools were applied to find out the related information.
The researcher categorized whole data into problem related to classroom
management, problem related to teacher training(pre-service and in-service),problem
related to teaching method and materials, problem related to school management and
administration.The researcher found that there are mainly of problems that causes
teachers inefficient and unenthusiastic to execute their duties properly in the
classroom. According to the teachers, most of the problems faced by them are lack of
proper classroom management, lack of trained teacher should not used frequently
teaching method and materials,lack of training transformation as a problem.
