| dc.description.abstract | Animal farm is regarded as one of the most famous satirical allegories of Soviet totalitarianism in the field of literature. Orwell based the book on events upto an during Joseph Stalin’s regime. Orwell, a democratic socialist, and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of stalin, and was suspicious of Moscow directed Stalinism after his experiences in the Spanish civil war. Orwell symbolically expresses the events of the Russian Revolution and its consequences by using both man and animal characters. In the novel pigs in a farm play the role of the Bolshevik revolutionaries and overthrow and oust the human owners and other characters have their parallel in the real world. So, I have tried to explain symbolic aspects of the novel which lies within its artistic strecture. The first chapter of the thesis introduces Orwell’s life and work in brief. A general survey of symbol and symbolism has been made in the second chapter. After that chapter three concerntrates on the textual analysis of the novel. Finally chapter four concludes the thesis. | en_US |
