Abstract
This research work entitled Using Mobile Phones in English Language
Learning has been carried out to find out the extent to which the
students of secondary school (class 10) use mobile phones in English
language learning and to ascertain students' attitude towards the use of
mobile phone as language learning tool. It is a cross sectional survey
research which is akin to both qualitative and quantitative research. The
population of this study consists of secondary school students of two
different schools. It employs both primary and secondary sources of data
to reach into conclusion. The study examines the students' attitude
toward the use of mobile phone in English language learning. The
findings obtained from the data collection tools show that the student
had positive attitude toward the use of mobile phone. The result of the
study confirmed that mobile phone has positive impact on the students'
language learning achievement. Thus, this study concluded that there
must not be total ban on the use of mobile phones for students since
mobiles provide students with an interesting, innovative, and engaging
English language learning.
The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter I includes general
background, statement of problem, objective of the study , hypothesis of
the study, significance of the study , and operational definition of key
terms. Chapter II deals with review of related theoretical and empirical
literature. Chapter III consists the methods and procedures of the study
where the design of the study, population and sample, sampling
procedure, data collection tool, data collection procedure and data
analysis and interpretation procedures have been mentioned. Chapter IV
talks about analysis of data and interpretation of the result and summary
of findings. Chapter V presents conclusion and recommendation. Finally
last part of the thesis is followed by references and appendixes.
