dc.description.abstract | This study investigated how effective the electronic dictionary is in teachingEnglish pronunciation. To carry out the study, the researcher selected thestudents of grade six of Swati Sadan English Secondary School of Kathmandudistrict. He collected the data from the sampled population of forty students ofthe same school. The students were assigned pre-test and divided into twodifferent groups on the basis of their roll number. The students having even rollnumber were put in experimental group and the students having odd rollnumbers were put in the controlled group to make sure that both the groups hadbeen equal in terms of their pronunciationproficiency. And a post-test wasadministered after thirty days' teaching by using electronic dictionary for theexperimental group and without using electronic dictionary for the controlledgroup. The mean difference of pre-test and post-test of both the groups wascalculated and compared. The result proves that the use of electronic dictionaryis very much effective since the mean difference of experimental group isgreater than the controlled group. The study consists of four chapters. The first chapter is an introductory one. Itincludes general background, review of the related literature, and objective ofthe study, significance of the study and definitions of the specific terms.Similarly, chapter two deals with the methodology applied to conduct thestudy. This consists of the sources of data, population of the study, samplingprocedure, tools for data collection and limitations of the study. Likewise,chapter three deals with the analysis and interpretation of the raw data obtainedfrom the students. In this section, both statistical as well as descriptiveapproach was used to find out the effectiveness of electronic dictionary inteaching pronunciation. Finally, chapter four deals with the findings,recommendations and pedagogical implications ofthis study. | en_US |
