Abstract
Tourism is a white industry in this modern world, tourism industry has been
growing at an outstanding rate & it has appeared as the world's largest & greatest
export industry. Tourism has a great role to play to improve country's image in
international arena. Tourism is a diving force for the economic development of
Nepal. IT is a major contributor to Nepalese economy. Tourism sector is economy
improving living standards & reducing poverty.
The research study entitled "problem & prospects of tourism in Kanchanpur
District" has been carried out with the objective, analyzing the area as a tourism
destination, about which many tourists don't know much till data.
Kanchanpur Districts has enormous tourism product to attract the tourist it
has a god gifted natural assets like. Shukaphanta wield life reserve. Mahakali
river, Bedkot lake, Rani lake, Jhilmila lake, favorable climate etc. This will be the
great interest for the tourist. But there are so many problems to develop tourism
due to the lack of the baric infrastructure. There are 1 three star hotel, 16 local
level hotel and 22 restaurants with provide the service for present demand a tourist
in 2000, 46.67percent of tourists stayed are might which 37.50 percent stayed two
nights. Similarly 12.50 percent stayed three nights and remaining 8.33 stayed for
four night and above. Tourists are of different ages. 2.5 percent were below of 20
years of age which 62.5 percent were within the age of 21 to years. Similarly 25.0
percent of tourist was over 40 years.
The main objective of the study is to analyze the tourism in study area. For
this study researcher carried and various methodologies such as questionnaire
method, observation of the study generates information regarding the subject
matter.
For the study culturally and naturally significant were ethnic groups
temples, flora and faunna lakes are standing and surveying from long time. The
Tharu culture is the prominent cultural attraction for tourist and Shuklaphata wild
life reserve is also assisting in tourism development.
The district has great potentiality to attract tourist but is nit given due
consideration by related agencies and government. Most of the aspects of ecotourism as rural tourism cultural tourism, village tourism, adventure tourism etc
have potentiality there.
