Abstract
The thesis entitled Effectiveness of Picture in Writing Paragraph has been conducted
with the aim to find out the effectiveness of the use of pictures in teaching paragraph
writing in English. To achieve this objective of the study, both the primary and secondary
sources of data were used. A sample of 30 grade nine students from a public school at
Bhojpur district was taken as informants for the fulfillment of the purpose of the study. The
study found that the use of pictures in teaching is a requirement for successful learning of
writing paragraphs. The use of pictures makes the class lively and provides students
memorize the text more easily than any other efforts. The study recommended that the
focus in using effective teaching materials at class can make the teaching and learning
language more productive and purposeful. If the teaching became able to foster
communicative competence in the learners, the teaching would be more meaningful and
the learning would be more permanent and effective.
The thesis has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the general
background, literature review, objectives and the significance of the study. The second
chapter contains the methodology which deals with sources of data, sampling procedure,
tools for data collection, process of data collection and the limitations of the study. The
third chapter includes the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained from the field.
The fourth chapter contains the findings and recommendations of the study.
