dc.description.abstractThe thesis entitled“Perceptions of Private School Teachers on Teaching Pronunciation”aims at getting perception of private school teachers on teaching pronunciation.The main objective of the study was to find out the perceptions of private school teachers on teaching pronunciation.To address the objective of the study 30teachers teaching English in private schools of Kathmandu valley were selected as a sample by using non-random purposive sampling procedure. The researcher used survey research design. For this,he formulated a set of questionnaire consisting 25 close-endedand 3 open-end edquestions in order to collect the required information. The data collected from the informants were analyzed using simple statistical tools like table and percentage. The research found most of the private school teachers perceive pronunciation teaching to be very essential aspect of English language teaching atsecondary level. They are found to be very well aware of teaching pronunciation. Themajor findings of the study showed thatall the respondents have very positive attitude towards pronunciation teaching. Majority of them admitted that English language teaching is incomplete without pronunciation teaching. So, pronunciation teaching is a must for English language teaching. Thisstudy consists offive chapters.Chapter one dealswith the introduction to research including background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study,delimitations of the study, and operational definitions of the key terms.Chapter two contains the review of theoretical literature, review of empiricalliterature, implication of the review of the study and conceptual framework.Similarly, chapter three discusses the methodology adopted for the study in terms of design of the study, population sample and sampling strategy, research tools, sources of data, data collection procedure, data analysis procedure and ethical consideration. Analysis and interpretation of data is given in chapter four. The thesis concludes with major findings and recommendations in chapterfive.en_US
