dc.description.abstractThis research attempts to explore the sufferings of immigrant Jews during the post-war period in Bernard Malamud's novel The Assistant. So, this study is an exploration into Diasporic experience of the Jews who had great difficulty in getting themselves established culturally and economically. The protagonist, Morris Bober goes through hard times as he tries to run a grocery store. Thus, the study explores prejudice against immigrant Jews in American society, and shows how it makes Morris Bober's struggle for holding social position unsuccessful.en_US
