dc.description.abstractThis research tries to prove thetheme ofsubversionoftraditional gender roles in the novelMartyn PigbyKevin Brooksrepresented byfemale protagonist Alexandra Freeman.Itmoves around female protagonist Alexandra Freeman whohas anenormous dream to be the world's best actress.Alexandra Freemanrejectsthe traditional stereotypical masculine concept to look at femalewho brings reconsideration in the concept of their roles in the family and in the work place.She keeps multiple relationships and frequently visits her boyfriends' house alone in the night time. She meets her boyfriends' family members and later on becomes actress on her own. She does not get married throughout her life even though there isalways pressureon herto get married from her family. In order to explore this issue, this novelhas beenanalyzed fromtheperspectivethe subversion ofgender roleswhich delineates how female protagonist Alexandra Freemanrejectsthe traditional gender rolein the family and in the society.en_US
