dc.description.abstract | The present research explores the state of suppressed women in Shanta Kumar Rai’s Paintings. His paintings deal with the day to day life experiences of women where women are limited to certain boundaries of their house. In the society the so-called superior class males made rules and behaved accordingly to repress the females. This research shows the accurate picture of the women, their involvement in domestic works, their emotions and sufferings, and the domination by patriarchy. As the women in the Nepali society are restricted from each and every opportunity, the paintings of Rai reflect the same idea. And the concern of my research is to explore such submissive females by applying the theory, third world feminism as well as analyzing the paintings with expressionism. Rai focuses the subject matter of suppressed women and foregrounds their unheard voices questioning the chauvinistic patriarchal society. Paintings of Rai though deal with the different issues third world feminism, along with the Representation of Suppressed Women occupies the central concern on which the research is based upon. | en_US |
