| dc.description.abstract | Abstract The present research tries to analyze Yeats's selected poems in the light of Jameson's version of Marxism. This study not only portrays the human conditions alienated and estranged as the corollary effects of materialism but also critique the system so far as antagonistic force to the development of art and literature. Drawing the view of critics who have acknowledged material mechanism in society, it brings Marxism especially, Jameson's version of Marxism, to revel the cause behind human condition in modern age--alienation and estrangement. Through critical analysis of Yeats's symbol and image in his poetry, the research aims at putting spotlight on the bourgeois ideology that function antagonistically towards the development of art and literature. | |
