Abstract
he title of the present dissertation is 'Case in English and Maithili Language: A Contrastive Study' which shows the similarity and differences between the case system of both thelanguagesto find case and difficulty between both the languages. Naturally, common things emphasize on the case and dissimilar things assert on the difficulty. Itaims atfindingsimilar or equivalent cases of English and Maithili language on semantic level. However, the case marking system is different in both of the languages. The present thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter deals with major area which determines the whole dissertation. The second chapter analyzes case in English language in an elaborate way and third chapter concentrates on the Maithili case and the forth one includes similarities and differences prevalent in case marking system of these two languages. And the fifth chapter suggests pedagogical implication of the study and the six chapter encompasses the conclusion of the thesis.
