dc.description.abstractThe present research deals with the sublimity in the form and the protagonist's struggle, failure and success in Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. Also comparison and contrast with its film adaptation is done. The main problematic after extensive literature review emerged in the process of the study are how the protagonist reacts to his failure and victory; what encourages him to accept every challenge of life and why he does not lose his heart even in very difficult situation. The study has come to the conclusion that the form of the novella though simple, has novel and lofty insight. Also, the study has proved that the protagonist is man of high spirit as he exhibits constant temperament in both failure and success; confidence in every struggle and optimism towards life. The methodology applied in this study is the theory sublimity. Both primary and secondary data have been used in the study some shots have been borrowed from the film adaptation. The study has been divided into three chapters.en_US
