The title of this research is "A Study on the Pronunciation of the Plural and Past Tense Morphemes." The main objective of this research is to find out the proficiency of class nine students on the pronunciation of the plural morpheme of regular nouns and the past tense morpheme of regular verbs in different environments. For this, the researcher constructed a test item that contains two sets of sentences: one having the plural morpheme of regular nouns and another having the past tense morpheme of regular verbs in different environments. For sample population, the researcher selected 72 students from six schools (3 public and 3 private) of Nawalpur focusing on sex. He visited each school, selected 12 students using disproportionate stratified sampling, administered a test where the students had to pronounce the sentences in the test item and recorded their pronunciation on the tape recorder. The researcher analyzed the data in terms of sex, schools, morphemes and environments using statistical tools like percentage, average and t-test. From the analysis of the data, the researcher found that the students' overall proficiency on the pronunciation of the plural morpheme of regular nouns and the past tense morpheme of regular verbs in different environments is 49.68 percent. The study consists of four chapters, which are as follows: Chapter one consists of general background, literature review, objectives of the study, significance of the study and definition of specific terms. Chapter two deals with methodology adopted to carry out this research. It consists of sources of data, population of the study, sample population, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three consists of analysis and interpretation of the data. The data has been analyzed in terms of sex, schools, morphemes and environments. Chapter four consists of findings and recommendations of the study.en_US
