dc.description.abstract | The present study entitled “Practice of Monitoring for English Teachers Professional Development” aimed to identify the monitoring practices employed by English language teachers of Shankhuwa-sabha district. It also aimed to identify the benefits of monitoring practices for their professional development and to suggest some pedagogical implications. The research study was mainly based on the primary sources of data, which was collected from secondary school of Shankhuwa-Sabha district. The schools were selected by using purposive sampling procedure. The data was collected with the help of interview. The interview consists of fifteen open-ended questions. The systematically collected data have been analyzed and interpreted discriptively and analytically. This study shows that almost all the secondary level English language teachers had positive attitude towards monitoring practices. It also shows some monitoring practices employed by secondary level English language teachers' of Sankhuwa –Sabha district and their perceived benefits of those monitoring practices for their professional development. This study found that there was a gap between teachers' knowledge and classroom practices. English language teachers considered monitoring practices as an effective means for their professioal development but its practice in their professional field was deplorable. This study consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with general background of the study, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology used in the study, i.e. sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, tools of data collection, process of data collection, and limitations of the study. The third chapter presents the systematically collected data which have been analyzed and interpreted descriptively and analytically. The fourth chapter deals with the major findings and recommendations which have been derived on the basis of analysis and interpretation of data.
