Abstract
This study was an attempt to find out the factors affecting in learning
mathematics of the DCL students.
The instruments adopted in this study were observation form and guideline,
interview schedule for focused DCL students, mathematics teachers and their
respective house-owners to prepare this report and accumulation of the primary data.
Similarly, School Reports, Related Magazines by SIDS Nepal, Sahamati Nepal, and
the website of ILO, UNICEF were used for collecting the secondary data preparation
with qualitative design.
For this study the researcher selected 4 DCL students, 4 non-DCL Students,
mathematics teacher and the respective house-owner of the DCL students were
selected of Shree Siddhi Ganesh Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu. These
students were selected as the purpose of the study. For the analysis of the data, the
collected data was categorized according to the category of the respondents, i.e. DCL,
non-DCL students. Thus, for the validity and reliability of the result of the study,
triangulation method was adopted.
To find out the factors affecting in learning mathematics, interview with the
DCL and non-DCL students, teachers and their respective house owner were carried
out.
The study concluded that factors affecting the learning mathematics of DCL
students were bad attitude of house owner, heavy work load, discipline of the class,
different tradition and culture and pre-knowledge of the students.
