dc.description.abstractThis research work entitled “Translation of Technical Text” is an attempt to find out the procedures used in technical translation and to find out the structural shifts. The data for the study were collected from both Nepali and English versions of the technical texts (ricārj garne tarikā, ec.āi.vi./ eds bāta bacne upāyaharu, udhyog sancālan sambandhi shartharu, and rāhadāni sambandhi jānakāri) by using non-random sampling procedure. The data consisted of 80 technical terms. The data were analyzed by using statistical tools, paraorthogaphic text such as charts, tables, diagram etc. The findings of this study show that seven different procedures are found to have been employed in translating technical terms where literal translation is the most and borrowing is the least used procedures. There are many instances of the use of non- corresponding structures, which lead the structural shift in translation. So, translation shift exists between the Source Language Text (SLT) and Target Language Text (TLT). This study is divided into four chapters. Chapter one introduces general background of the topic, literature review, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter i.e. methodology enlarges on the sources of data, process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter analyzes, interprets and presents the data. Descriptive and analytical approaches are used for the purpose. Chapter four presents the findings of the study on the basis of the analysis and interpretation of data. On the basis of the findings some recommendations and pedagogical implications are drawn.en_US
