dc.description.abstractThis research is a study of “The Effectiveness of Skimming to Develop Reading Comprehension”. The main aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of skimming to develop reading comprehension. In order to collect the data, both primary and secondary sources were used. All the data were collected through the pre-test, progressive (two progressives) test and post-test. For the primary resources of data 30 students of grade XI of Shree Shiva Madan Higher Secondary School Satineta, Arghakhanchi were selected by using simple random sampling procedure. The main tools for data collection were test items. In this research the students have shown better performance in post-test than pre-test and progressive test. From this study, it has been found that the skimming technique is effective to develop reading comprehension. This thesis has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter consists of the introduction of the study. The introduction consists of general background, review of the related literature and objectives of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology, sources of data, sampling procedure and limitations of the study. Similarly, the third chapter of this study consists of the analysis and interpretation of the data. In this way, the fourth chapter includes the production of analysis and interpretation of the data, i.e. findings of the study and some recommendations made on the basis of the findings. Finally, the references and the appendices which are necessary for the validation of the research are also presented.en_US
