dc.description.abstractExploration of Collective Unconscious in Virginia Woolf’sThe Waves The present research project focuses on the collective unconscious of the characters from the Virginia Woolf’s novelThe Waves. The exploration of characters’ unconscious psyche and behavior is the main focuses of the research. By using archetypal images and symbols Woolf wants to explore the psyche of characters. She represents the life circle of the characters from childhood to adult using the symbol of sun andthe rays of sun which falls on waves symbolizes the colorful life of the characters. Further this research explores the dual nature of the characters which is called persona. These archetypal images and symbols are not only used in the novel’s charactersbut it represents the psyche of British people.
