dc.description.abstract | The major thrust of this study is to establish the assertion of patriotism. Patriotim is a feeling for one’s own country. Many people associate patriotism with love for the land in which they are born, brought up, or currently live. The purpose of this study is to examine how the pragmatic and practical sense of patriotic qualities arises in the characters who are surrounded by plenty of challenges and setbacks. Even the characters coming from the common walks of life happen to display heroic disposition. The confrontation between setbacks and people from the normal spheres of life gives birth to heroism. It obviously reflects the author Narayan Wagle's own experience as a Brahmin male based largely in Kathmandu to show that his journalism background rather than his caste identity is crucial in understanding Palpasa Café’s successes and failures. It is to his credit that he has written about what he knows and not attempted to include many different aspects of Nepal. | en_US |
