Abstract

The present research foregrounds the study of existential struggle of the characters in the economically depressed era of the 1930s. This research exposes Harry Morgan's heroism and stoicism in the then collapsing world. The fragmented, disharmonious and alien world caters frustration, anxiety and loneliness to people. To fight against those evil forces, Harry Morgan chooses to go against the authority of the society. He struggled against those who have the abounding amount of wealth without labour. Like Harry Morgan, Richard Gordon's mission was to establish socialism by awakening the common people. This research shows the struggle, patience, tolerance and effort of an individual in a fragmented society.
