dc.description.abstractThe present thesis entitled Motivational Techniques Used by Basic Level English Language Teachers. The objectives of the research were to find out the motivational techniques used by basic level English language teachers and to suggest some pedagogical implications on the basis of findings in teaching English language. The data were taken from the basic level English language teachers. The major tools and techniques of data collection were questionnaire and classroom observation checklistto the teachers. The research participants were taken from ten basic level English language teachers of different schools located in Rupendehi district. The process of selecting sample population was nonrandom purposive sampling procedures. The unit of analysis was the English class.The results of my study suggest that, student motivation is related to teacher`s use of different motivation strategies/techniques, which in turn are related to teaching learning effectiveness and English language achievement.All the teachers agreed that students must be motivated before starting the class. All the teachers replied that motivation techniques differ according to the nature and situation of the class. Thus, effective, appropriate, applicable, and practical motivation techniques use appropriately results improved level of English language learning of the students. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter consists of introduction, background of the study, statements of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. Similarly, in the second chapter review of theoretical and empirical literature, implications of the study and conceptual framework are included. Likewise,in the third chapter methods and procedures of the study incorporate research design, population, sample, sampling strategy, research tools, sources of data, data collection procedures, data analysis procedures and ethical considerations. In the same vain, in the chapter four analysis of data and interpretation of results are presented, and findings, conclusion. In the same way, in the chapter five recommendations are included.Finally, the reference and appendices are included.en_US
