| dc.description.abstract | This study entitled Knowledge and Behaviour on STIs and HIV/AIDS among Married Women of Reproductive Age. A case study of some selected wards in Gitanagar VDC has been carried out by using primary data collection from three wards of Gitaranagan VDC in April-May 2007. The main objectives of this study are to examine the knowledge and behaviour on STIs and HIV/AIDS among married women of reproductive age. The total study population was hundred. Three wards were selected by purposive sampling method among three wards of Gitanagar. Out of total sample size of 100 married women, 88.0 percent were literate and 12.0 percent were illiterate. Among this 78.0 percent were literate were Hindu religion and others are Buddhim, Islam, Christian. Among the total respondents majority of the population's occupation was agriculture. In this survey 83.0 percent of them had heard about STIs, the name of the diseases were syphilis, Gomorrhea, Chlamydia, Genital warts, Trichomonasis. The main source of STIs information were heard from mainly Radio and Television. Out of the total of 83 respondents 80.83 percent of them had knowledge on STIS can transmissible. The main cause of STIS had reported unsafe sexual intercourse. Out of total 100 respondents 93.0 percent of them had heard of HIV/AIDS. The main source of knowledge on HIV/AIDS were also Radio and Television, 97.86 percent of them reported that HIV/AIDS can be transmitted form unsafe sexual intercourse, 94.62 percent of them reported HIV/AIDS can be prevented. 98.0 percent of them reported contraception can prevent HIV/AIDS and only 87.0 percent of them had knowledge on condom can prevent HIV/AIDS. The perception about the AIDS infected person is 77.41 percent reported all of them die. | en_US |
