Abstract
This thesis attempts to find out the problems while preparing teaching materials and their
solutions. The population of the study consisted of 40 secondary level English teachers
from government-aided and private schools of Chitwan district. A set of questionnaire
and questions for interview were used to collect the data. On the basis of the collected
data, problems and solutions for preparing teaching aids were analyzed using simple
statistical tools like tables and figures. The findings of the study showed that only a few
teachers prepared teaching materials themselves and some teachers liked to use teaching
materials but due to some problems like lack of time, lack of knowledge etc. they were
unable to use them while teaching English as second language.
The study consists of four chapters. Chapter one encompasses general background,
review of related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. Chapter
two deals with methodology which includes sources of data, population of the study,
sample population of the study, tools for data collection, process of data collection and
limitations of the study. Chapter three includes analysis and interpretation of the data.
The data were analyzed on the basis of variables that were specified in the objectives.
The last chapter, i.e. chapter four consists of the major findings and recommendations.
