dc.description.abstractThe main objective of this study is to analyse the use of English language in Nepali newspaper i.e. Annapurna Post daily. For this, the researcher concerntrated on word class, types of news and frequency of occurrence of mixed words. The researcher used judgemental non-random procedure to collect the data. The researcher prepared an observation sheets (check list) before the collection of data and she listed down the code mixed English words in those observation sheets (check list) while reading the newspapers. The sample population of this study was ten days' issues of Annapurna Post which were the regular issues of this newspaper. The main findings of this study were code mixing was a regular phenomenon in the field of Nepali newspaper. More than 2.5% words were shifted in each day's issues. Among them, more shifted words belonged to major word class and only a few words to minor word class. Likewise, code mixing took place in all types of news in the sampled newspaper.The frequency of occurrence of most of the shifted words was once only. The single word 'bank' contained the highest frequency of occurrence. This thesis mainly contains four chapters that are given in the following paragraphs. Chapter one consists of general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study, and definition of the specific terms. Chapter two deals with methodology. It encompasses sources of data, population of the study, sample population, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitation of the study. Chapter three consists of analysis and interpretation of the data. The data were analysed descriptively using simple statistical tool like table, etc. Chapter four consists of findings and recommendations of the research.en_US
