Abstract
The present thesis entitled Role of Parents Towards English Language Learning was carried out to find out the role of parents in English language learning and to identify the attitudes of parents towards their role in English language learning. For this, the researcher selected 45 parents from New Baneshwor, by using purposive sampling procedure,Kathmandu. A set of questionnaire was prepared for information. A questionnaire with different questions related to the role of parents was supplied to the parents. The findings of the study showed that those parents who mostly used roles of facilitator, motivator, threatener, feedback provider have positive attitudes towards English language learning and those parents who used controller roles have negative attitudes towards English language learning. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introductory chapter which includes general background of study, statement of the problem, rationale of the study, objectives of the study, research questions,significance of the study and delimitations of the study. The second chapter includes the review of the related literature and conceptual framework. The third chapter covers all the area of methodology dealing with design of study, sampling procedures,tool and procedures of data collection. Fourth chapter includes data analysis and interpretation in which data were analyzed by using different tables, charts and figures. Similarly,the fifth chapter includes summary,conclusion and implication on policy level,practical level and for the further researchers. The references and appendices formed the final part of the thesis.
