dc.description.abstractThis study is entitled Experiences of Madarsa English Teachers in Implementation of English as a Compulsory Subject. The present study aims to identify the Madarsa English teachers‟ experiences in English as a subject in Madarsa school. To carry out this research, I adopted narrative inquiry as a research design. Five Madarsa English teachers were selected purposively, and data were collected using a non-random sampling procedure. In-depth interview was the main tool for data collection. The systematically collected data were analysed descriptively and thematically. After analysing the data, findings were drawn. From analysis and interpretation data, it was found that Madarsa English teachers presented both the positive and negative experiences in implementing English as a compulsory subject in Madarsa. This study showed that English as a compulsory subject in Madarsa would enhance students‟ English and entire quality of education but the participants had negative remarks about the availability of recourses, materials and government support. The majority of teacher were not satisfied with the salary. Similarly, this study also showed that the Madarsa teachers have been facing different challenges while teaching English in the classrooms like; use of Islamic language so, exposures to English language was limited. This thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter deals with the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study, and operational definition of key terms. The second chapter comprises a review of the related theoretical and empirical studies, implications of the studies, and conceptual framework. Likewise, the third chapter consists design of the study and method of the study, population, sample, and sampling strategies, research tools, sources of data, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure, data analysis, interpretation procedures, and ethical consideration. The fourth chapter includes an analysis of data and an interpretation of results. Similarly, the fifth chapter focuses on findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on the results and discussion of the study. The references and appendices have been included in the last part of the thesis.en_US
