dc.description.abstractCharles Brockden Brown's novel Wieland presents the picture of post- revolutionary era of America. Wieland, Clara, Carwin are the major characters of this novel. Elder Wielanddiesmysteriously . Wieland fears with the mysterious combustion of his parents.On the other hand,Carwin is a tricky person who produces the mysterious multiple voices. Carwinsaysthat those multiple voices are the command of god.Under the influence of mysteriouscombustion of parents and trickery of Carwin, Wieland becomes neurotic patient.He wants to be a ventriloquist which is not fulfilled.Inhis mind, there is no social and moral consciousness. Psychologically he becomes unconscious and his mind is guided by id. It is related with horror, terror and murder.Then, he does themurder of his wife and children to outlet of his repressed desires.en_US
