dc.description.abstractThis study entitled ‘Impact of Politics on the use of Vocabulary: A Case of English Print Media in Nepal’ intends to find out the impact of political change in using the English language of print media in terms of vocabulary. This study is based on secondary sources of data. The sample population of the study consists of one hundred fifty six issues of the selected English newspapers of Nepal viz. ‘The Kathmandu Post’ and ‘The Rising Nepal’ covering three different political phases of Nepal [i.e. Pre-Janaandolan phase (2062/11/24 - 2062/12/24), Janaandolan (2062/12/24 – 2063/01/12), and post Janaandolan phase (2063/01/13 - 2063/02/13)]. Twenty one issues of each daily or seven issues of each phase are selected. The required data were collected using observation as a tool of data collection. The study on the basis of collected data and the number of the vocabulary have been calculated.From the analysis of the data, the researcher found out that there are impacts of political change on the using trend of vocabulary in print media. The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one introduces the study in terms of general background introduction to communication and its types, introduction to mass media, significance of mass media in the society. Language in process of change, vocabulary and its importance and types and relationship between politics, society, media and language, review of related literature, objectives of the study, and the definition of the specific terms. Chapter two consists of the methodology of the study. It encompasses the source of data, sampling procedures, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitation of the study. The third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the collected data. The data were analyzed on the basis of the variables that were specified in the objective of the study. The fourth or final chapter deals with the findings and the recommendations of the study. The findings have been outlined on the basis of the analysis and interpretation of the data and appropriate recommendations and pedagogical implications have been madeen_US
