dc.description.abstractThe present study was conducted to examine the use of communicative language teaching in Nepalese context. The chief objective of the study was to find out the challenges faced by English language teachers in the use of communicative language. The present study was a survey research. The study was conducted in Morang district. The 20 teachers from government aided school sand 20 from private schools were taken as the sample of the study.Different views towards communicative language teaching were taken by questionnaires and to see the practicality of using communicative language teaching,English classes were observed by using checklist.After the interpretation and analysis of the data,the main finding derived was that there are some factors such as sufficient training on ELT,lack of sound knowledge on communicative approach and large size of the class which prevented the teachers from applying communicative method in their language teaching classroom at secondary level. This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter consists of general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology that consists of sources of data, sampling procedure, research tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter is the body of thesis. It is concerned with analysis, interpretation and presentation of the collected data. The last chapter describes the findings and recommendations derived from this research.en_US
