Suffixation, an integral part of morphology, is such an organ, in the lack of which a language user/learner remains unsuccessful to have good command of a language. Therefore, one should be equipped with adequate knowledge of suffixation. By taking this fact into consideration, I was determined to investigate the proficiency of B. Ed. II year students in the use of suffixation. In this regard, to accomplish this mission, I collected eighty words randomly from the course book of B. Ed. II year, i.e., Expanding Horizons in English. I classified those words into four word classes viz. noun, verb, adjective and adverb, and prepared seven different sets of questions including twenty nouns, eighteen verbs, thirty two adjectives and ten adverbs. The full marks of whole test were eighty carrying one mark allocated to each question. Then, the collected data were analyzed and interpreted using descriptive approach and simple statistical tools as percentage, rank and level. The major finding of this research is that the students’ proficiency in the use of suffixation was found satisfactory. The students’ performance in adverb formation was highest among four word classes. This thesis consists of four chapters altogether. Chapter I is an introductory chapter which deals with the background information for the study of the topic. It states necessary rhetorical background, justifies the significance of the study, states objectives of the study and definition of key terms. Similarly, chapter II states the methodology followed in this study. It deals with sources of data: primary and secondary sources, clarifies the sampling procedure, process of the data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter III entails analysis and the interpretation of the data. It deals with the analysis and interpretation of collected data using descriptive approach and simple statistical tools; percentage, rank and level. The analysis has been done under different headings. Finally, chapter IV deals with the findings and recommendations made in light of analysis and interpretation. It shows that they were found more proficient in adverb formation than others. It also includes recommendations for pedagogical implications.en_US
